May 17th. the Club Members gathered at the Bay Tree, Goonhavern for breakfast. This was organised by our New Chairman Ivan Barrett. With a little time before we were due to leave with our suggested route paper, Members had a little time to look around the garden centre and the shops .
On leaving Goonhavern we followed a route which took us through the Nansledden development at Newquay, into Watergate Bay, St. Eval, St Columb, Tregonetha, and onto the New A391 road, from Victoria to Holmbush with all the views of lovely countryside and of St Austell Bay. We then followed through Par, to Fowey and Castle Dor and onto Mr Bishops beautiful valley gardens on top of the cliffs at Fontana, overlooking Par Bay and views as far as The Dodman.
This was followed by a cream tea which we all enjoyed prior to heading off home, before heavy rain set in at about 5 o’clock.
