Pasty Picnic - Porthoustock
A group of members met on Wednesday, 17th June 2026, at the newer restaurant, Chacewater Garden Centre, for coffee. We departed at 11 am for a short run to Porthoustock Beach whilst Ivan and Sue left to collect the pasties. It was a very interesting and informative run, which included some scenic roads. However when we finally reached our destination at Porthoustock Beach we discovered there was no Ivan, Sue or the pasties and for some time we were quite concerned.
In the meantime, when Ivan and Sue arrived at Gear Farm, St Martin, for the pasties, the order was incomplete as there was no vegan pasty! They then drove many many miles within the area to buy a vegan pasty, using their sat nav which led them astray, and eventually they arrived safely to our delight with the food.
The long wait was well worth it; the pasties were still hot and delicious - they were REAL CORNISH PASTIES.
After devouring them we departed to Roskilly’s for ice cream and tea.
It was a very enjoyable day - many thanks to Ivan and Sue for arranging it.
